The term "Grid computing" covers sharing of resources like computers,
software and data to solve problems in dynamic multi-institutional
virtual organizations. The user is able to interact with the Grid via
the Internet in a uniform and seamless way. Applications of the Grid are
for example data intensive computations, distributed supercomputing,
collaborative computing and teleimmersion. The seminar discusses a
selection of present research topics in the area of Grid computing, e.g.
security, resource management, applications and data transfer. In
collaboration with Research Center Jülich contents shall be elaborated
and presented on the basis of technical literature.
